Our meeting people where they are approach allowed great success at multiple big-box retail locations (with merchant permission).
At each registration location we:
- Registered New Voters: Provided online guidance when people had a Georgia Driver’s License or State ID. Without a license or ID, we provided handouts of forms and instructions. When a request for absentee ballot was appropriate, we also gave them online or written form guidance.
- Made Voters Aware of the January 5th Runoff: A cumulatively significant number of people were either confused or unaware about the upcoming January 5, 2021 special runoff election.
- Answered Loads and Loads of Voting Questions: Our volunteers provided general guidance and assistance, as well as the QR links to hundreds of new prospective voters. Questions arose that we couldn’t answer. We took contact information and followed up with them after phoning the Secretary of State.
- Networking to Other Potential New Voters: Many already registered voters we spoke with also became active allies and took copies of our handouts, weblinks and other materials such as the registration QR code to spread the word and multiply our impact.
